How We Make a Pebbled Leather Tote in Guangzhou

This is a pebbled cowhide tote going through the floor in Baiyun. The same benches are used for the other leather orders. It is not a show line.

The sample comes first

Bulk does not start from a photo. A sample is made first. Bulk copies that sample: the leather, the color, the pattern, the stitch, the hardware, the lining, the logo, and the packing. If it is not on the sample, it is not in the bulk.

Sampling is typically 7–15 days. Bulk is typically 25–45 days after the sample is locked. Existing genuine leather styles usually start at 30–50 pcs per style. Sample fee can be credited toward a confirmed bulk order.

The hide

The leather is cowhide with a pebbled grain. We buy it in China. We do not call it Italian or European unless you asked for that hide and the supply is confirmed.

Before cutting we look at the color, the grain, the thickness, and the scars. Front panels are cut from the cleaner part of the hide. A mark that can sit on the base cannot sit on the front. How many bags come off one hide is part of the price.

Pattern and cutting

The paper pattern comes from the approved sample. It is laid on the hide. The cutter traces the edge, then cuts it with a knife. Front, back, base, gusset, and handles are separate pieces. They have to match when they are sewn.

A wider handle or a deeper base uses more leather. That is why we do not quote a finished price from a picture.

Sewing

The pieces go to the sewing floor and are sewn on industrial machines. The stitch line and the handle length follow the sample.

On a structured tote the base board is fitted so the bottom holds its shape. The lining is closed after that.

Hardware and logo

The buckle, zipper, and rivets are not made on this floor. A hardware workshop we work with makes them for the order. The fitting is the one on the sample, and its cost is in the bag price.

The logo is whatever was approved on the sample: a stamp, foil, a metal plate, or a label. If it was not on the sample, it is not added in bulk.

Edge paint and the check

Where the edge is painted, it is painted by hand and hung up to dry. The color is the color on the sample.

Before packing we check the shape, the stitching, the edge paint, the hardware, and that the bag opens and closes like the sample. The same check is done again before the carton. An inspector you send can check against that sample.

We do not put a worker count or a monthly output on this page. Quantity comes from the construction, how the hide cuts, and the date on the order.

Packing

Each bag goes into a poly bag, then into a carton. A dust bag or a box is used only when the order asks for it. The cartons ship from Guangzhou.

The first message is enough when it has:

• Photos of the bag, or a tech pack
• Genuine leather or PU
• How many, and in which colors
• The logo artwork
• The hardware you want
• Poly bag, box, or plain carton
• Where it will be sold, and when you need it
